I have been helping others function at their highest level for almost 30 years in my multiple roles as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Life Coach, Author and Speaker.
After my brother was killed in a car accident in 1981, I had to learn to help myself while also supporting my parents. Once I realized my brother’s strength was ingrained in me, I was able to continue my own journey, incorporating the life lessons he taught me. I became a Life Coach and taught seminars on “Coping With The Loss of a Sibling” and “Coping With Losses.”
Several years later I experienced another life lesson (amongst many others along the way, such as divorce). My mother started showing signs of dementia. I witnessed my father’s emotional suffering as a result of this diagnosis and knew I needed to do something to help other in that situation. After my father passed away, I became Certified as a Dementia Care Practitioner. I began offering seminars and programs to caregivers and writing a second book on dementia.
Although my professional experience helped me tremendously, nothing beats life experience to teach you what is important in crisis situations. I have a passion for helping people live their lives to the fullest. I believe that we create our own destiny. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to create their own happiness and success, but sometimes we need a little nudge to help us along.
In addition to my professional work, I am enthusiastic about many other areas of my life. I enjoy spending time with my family, experiencing the great outdoors, reading and sharing time with my friends. I firmly believe that fostering social connections keeps me true to myself, and I encourage others to make relationships a priority!
