We all go through stressful times; some being more stressful than others! I was stressing out because September 5, 2014, was the 33rd anniversary of my brother, Gary, and I wasn’t able to write a blog about it because my internet wasn’t working! I just kept getting more stressed because I had work to do and wanted to voice my feelings about my brother, whom I miss, still after 33 years! However, I dug down deep and decided I needed to practice what I preach. I thought, okay, there isn’t anything I can really do about it that second. I had to call the cable company once again this week to get them to tell me to shut everything off and they will “send me signals.” Well, after the 4th time doing that, that was getting me stressed. Obviously someone’s signals were crossed! So, I had to think again, “practice what you preach!” So, I started once again…I turned everything off on my computer and the modem and lo and behold….IT DIDN’T WORK!!! Well, I decided to forget about writing my blog about Gary on his anniversary. I went to bed instead. The next day I tried again…no internet; and, yes, I called and they told me to turn everything off. No one needed to come out and check because my “signals were good.” Well, I tried not to stress once again, but its difficult when you are trying to run a business and can’t get to emails. I decided to just put it aside. There was nothing I could do and stressing about it wouldn’t help anything.
I finally got my email going, so, here I am. I felt better just letting go of the stress. I didn’t lose any business over it…instead, I gained patience! I had to find a way to distress myself, and the best way for me to do that is to exercise. When I’m stressed, I go walking. It clears my head and that is probably when I get my best ideas. I come home and drink water, which cleanses my body even more. You can’t beat it. What else I did when I couldn’t get on the internet was to use that time to my benefit. I worked on my stress management consulting certification and wrote up some of a seminar; which is one I am going to give in October on Wellness and Life Balance. I will put more up on that as I have a definite time and place. So, as you can see, stressing over something does not help it get solved in any way, and it only makes you feel worse.
